American Women in American Defense
Many American Women indecent months have been asking themselves: "What can I do to help my country at a time like this?" Investigation has shown that there are a surprising number of new fields opening up for women, and that an ever-growing force of active women volunteers are at this moment concretely aiding the defense programs. Our cameraman has gone about the city taking pictures of the important work women re doing. Here are some of the tasks they have assumed.

24. The First Aid Course of the American's Women's Voluntary Service is one of the most unusual and comprehensive offered. On the rooftops of New York, clad in grotesque-looking gas masks, the women are trained to rescue the helpless and prepare for any eventuality. Here, the girl learns how to carry a gas victim up and down a ladder.
